Minnesota!

lala Tannerite is a two part explosive. you mix the parts and they become unstable and an be "exploded' when shot with a high powered rifle. ( I use my 17 HMR but the book says it won't work as not enough power, BUT it does!!!!!)

What "we" do with it is mix it and put it in small containers (about the size of the old Doanes Pills containers) and place it on the center of a target. You can tell when you hit it from 200-300 yards or more.

It is also useful for removing beaver dams in larger quantities. There are some cool "redneck" youtubes of it in action It is sold in most good sporting goods stores..

Now time for a completely chicken post!

I turned my CX' chick out to free range today. They can either stay in their brooder/tractor or free range.
I fed them this evening, there were about 1/2 (30ish) of the babies in the "free range area". The rest were in the tractors. I brought the feed out to the Free rangers first. Most ran to the feed but about 10 of them ignored the feed and kept eating seeds and whatever they were finding in the weeds. It is amazing to see CX"s that ignore their feed tray.

I know some of you will not believe it but CX's can be raised like real chicks and behave like them as long as you limit their feed. I am only feeding them once a day. They get about 2- 2lb coffee cans of feed for 69 of them. There will be a little left for morning but not much. I want them to free range all day tomorrow. I will throw them about a 1/2 a can of scratch in the AM.

Yea i Did It.. read all 874 pages of MN BYC.. took several days but I did it..sure i will get behind again by the time im done posting this. btw not sure if im posting right. we will see. where to Start??? Hello... i never join forums but told myself if i read all this and like it i will join. guess what i think you all seem great. My name is Tina. I dont have any chickens yet but im working on it. Im almost done with my coop but i keep changing things the more i read the more i change. i still need to make more vents now that i know how important they are. then MAYBE paint, again. I always wanted chickens but was always to busy I was married almost 28 years me and hubby sold our lake home and bought a home in Anoka till he retired then had plans to move up North WAY up North.. but 7 days after we bought our temp home he died of cancer that was almost 2 years ago/ no we didnt know he had it. it hit him hard and fast BUT i guess thats a good way. he gave me the best life i could ask for, I have 1 son that turned 24 couple days ago. he went to college then joined the army and is now married she is also in the army. So it is just me now. Ive been trying to stay busy and thought what the H.. might as well get chickens..LOL...so I have been learning to build. I dug through hubbys tools and hit menards.. Ive been watching you tube lots of you tube.. seems like every time i put a board together it is wrong so ive taken it apart and started again. strange how if everything isnt squared up it doesn't turn out. I think im finally getting the hang of it..I will try and post pics of my progress so far but i think i will just try and post this 1st to see if it works..fingers xx/ed.....

Welcome to BYC and really welcome to the MN thread!

If I understand it correctly you live in Anoka? The city or county? How many chickens are you allowed? Roosters or not?

What kind of chickens to you plan to get?

And on the square thing........Cheating a little here or there helps a lot...

ok now to try and post pics...remember im learning.. and i did change a few things i was going to have nest boxes inside coop then changed that. was going to have flip up doors on side but then they were to heavy for me to lift so then i did outside of coop nestboxes. i like them better anyways.. when it was time to make poop tray and roost i realized my windows are in they way so tray and roost have to be up high. BUT im going to put flip up screen cover with hinges across top so they cant jump down and hurt themselves. they will have to use the ramp. not sure how im going to do vents yet still giving them thought. Ive learned allot since ive had to...

Jeez I haven't been on the MN thread for ages! Welcome to the forum Coffe 1st and good luck with your coop. Anyways my flock of 18 just turned into a flock of 33! I purchased 12 mix breeds of Welsummer, Orpington, Plymouth Rock, and Americauna. Most of the chicks came from americauna hens and a Welsummer and Wyandotte Rooster. Then my cousin gifted me with a breeding trio of her Blue Orpingtons. They're all wonderful chickens and I hope to post some pictures soon!

Sorry my pics got all out of order.. And I had to put one of my Pretty Green and Yellow Girl in there so some of you know where i stand ,,,LOL... and the wood pile pic just got mixed in the bunch. I did have to move all that wood because it was in the way of where i wanted to put the coop. I live in the City of Anoka County of Anoka. we are NOT allowed to have any roosters and i had to get permission from my neighbors to have chickens. Good thing ive have been nice to all of them,,,

Coffee 1st that is a nice coop you are putting together there. If you wish to get more practice, I will give you directions to come and erect one here. Welcome aboard.
I am a bit confused by this infatuation with being a redneck. I have been to many areas of the country where one does not solicit the title, but it is obvious if you are the genuine article.
Most beer is good. Some is better than others, and I don't particularly like it when they add citrus or sweet stuff. I am also not a fan of the fad beers. That Belgian stuff some rave about is not very popular in Belgium.
Ralphie I was quite sure the fishing would be slow in the vicinity of Togo. It seems the resident Sasquatch population has taken a liking to fish for dinner.
The gol darn predators have been causing a reduction in my flock. They are taking the hens during broad daylight right in the open mowed field. If I can get a glimpse of them they will be served on Ralphie's toast. I am going to be forced to confine the flock to safe quarters, and they will not like that.

I would like to join the RedNeck club but i wont even try..LOL.. I would like to live on some acreage and have a small hobby farm. I do like trucks but drive a Jeep grand Cherokee.I love a good pair of boots but would miss my stilettos.i dont drink often but do enjoys a ice cold beer once in awhile.i do have a country kitchen but prefer my cabinets without mice holes in them..LOL.. I do like to go fishing and will even put my own bait on and i filet better then anyone i know. i will give someone a dollar a bone if they find any. i have yet to have to pay out. My mother in law once said she found one but accidentally swallowed it, i told her sorry got to show me proof i need the bone.. but if im on the water to long i get sick....I dont mind gutting and cleaning an animal but cant kill it. I have my carry and conceal and am a pretty good shot. my daddy says i shoot better then his boys. but im afraid of guns and dont carry one and couldnt kill a raccoon if he was eating a chicken right in front of me..I would just stand there screaming and crying...but if youall will let me come to a meetin once in awhile i will bring some good eatin grub...
