OMG who would have thought shopping for chicken stuff could be so much fun...2 carts and a dolly later i walked out of TSC with everything i think i need ( and maybe a few extra) bags of food,treats,corn,black oil sunflower seeds,PDZ..D earth.medications,waters,feeders,I even got a wireless temp with humidity reader, and a few other things,,, I had so much fun that was the 1st time ive ever been in that store...cant wait to get chickens....
And NO i still didnt finish my coop,,,,tomorrow for sure LOL

I have a 4 inch lip on all mine and never had an egg kicked out, but all my nest boxes are pretty deep and they seem to make the nests at the far back of the box.

I think mine is about 4" as well, and they are removable for clean up. I push the shavings out into the henouse and add more. The inside of the nest boxes are just slightly higher than the outside, so maybe from the inside of the nest boxes it is only about 3" high. They seemed to know what they were for with out any training. they always use the boxes. I think the boxes are 11x12x16" deep? I'd have to measure to be sure.



The dividers are removable too. (photos from when we built it)

well today i went and looked at chickens at a few places and i didn't seem to like any of them and the ones i liked they weren't selling. some looked mostly balded and picked on littler then the others, some looked dirty one place smelled so bad i was trying not to breath but was trying to be polite and look anyways..
I wanted a nice verity and i wanted to get them all at once so they will start out together so i just ordered some,, I placed a order with McMurry i hope they are good. They are supposed to be here on the 10th. I ordered the 4 wk old females...
