I went and got 2 things of straw today.. thank goodness i only opened 1..LOL... there is allot of straw... should i take some out or is that fine? i will know not to unwrap so much next time...and i did make the screen to the roost a flip up for easy cleaning...and i did put D~earth under straw...

LOL ...yea i wasnt sure on the straw in the run either..never had a coop or chickens before...but they will be free ranging in the yard anyways and there is lots of dirt,,,hard to grow grass in all this sand...Hmmmmmm at the risk of seeming rude, I think you made an error.
The grass/ground/run should be dirt or grass for them to dig and scratch in I think. I do not have one of those nifty coops with a run like that so I am not 100% sure but I thought the idea was to give them dirt.
However I do like the coop! My birds would feel pampered in something that nice.
I had a mishap at lock up time tonight, one of my Dang Turkeys taught a creamette how to fly onto the roof and avoid the coop! Finally got him down after a lot of stick throwing.
