That is what I have read also, Cyrus. I get my birds from Mcmurray and they have a care sheet or FAQ page on their website.

awww and it has a name...When they are fully feathered they do not need heat. I do not use heat at 4 weeks. BTW Anyone want a Turkey Poult 2 days old, named "Cookie"....sigh
maggots are an excellent source of protein for them. In fact, have you ever heard of Black Soldier Flies? People raise those too and feed the maggots to the chickens. That is a awesome thing!Well I learned something today.
Now can I drink?
Serious question -- cleaning the sand out of the 5 Amigos holding pen and noticed something moving.... well looks like some food must have gotten wet and missed getting scooped out. Found some worms that I figured were maggots. I've given these guys mealworms but wasn't sure about letting them have the maggots. So I scraped all of that grahdoo out of the pen.
Are maggots okay for them to eat?

AAs far as roosting goes, I have a batch of 9 week olds that literally just stopped the clustering in the corners and started to roost. more and more every night. I think we only have 9 or 10 left (out of 27) last I checked tonight that were not roosting.
I don't really think you will need supplemental heat. If they have feathers, which it looks like it in the pictures, they should be ok. And they are in the coop not outside so that should help too. Don't worry (easier said than done I know) They will be super happy to see you in the morning all bright eyed and cheep cheeping away!

Such beauties. I have found that once grown my cats have a healthy respect for the chickens and the guineas. They thought they were a special treat when they were young but thankfully we didn't have any cat related bird deaths.
