One of my most fond memories from when I was a child was sitting in Willard's lap and steering a tractor. I loved the way the cap on the exhaust opened and shut. Our family were the founders of Manorville MN. We went down there every laborday. We still have some relatives there, but Willard was the last Blanch left and past 2 years ago. If you have been there you know of the Hubbel House. When you come in the door there are pictures of my ancestors and there is a Blanch street in the town.

We are very familiar with the Hubble house. DW takes her residents there for lunch at least once a month. Very cool memory

Mine either, took me 12 years to talk him into chickens. Basically I just showed up with them...
 
Maybe I could sneak a couple of mini nigerian goats in, they are so small he might not notice them...

Canned 56 quarts of tomatoes today with my mom, 1 broke in the canner, so really only 55, but it is all good, great day for it, not too hot! She knows I get hot so she put a box fan in the window right in front of where i'd be standing to peal the tomatoes, after they were blanched. It was a good productive time. I told my mom when I got there, "Oh no, I forgot my canning book you gave me to take notes in" She said, well, this won't be the last time we can tomatoes, I plan on living quite a few more years, you'll have plenty of time to take more notes." Hahaha I wasn't thinking this was the last time we'd be canning together, I just wanted my book! She is funny, she is only 65. It went fast with two people doing it, so i'm sure i'll do it with her from now on to make it easier on her. She is only 65, but those canners get heavy. Plus the boxes of tomatoes. I love spending time with her. I may have to go over there when she does beets. I don't think she is doing pickles this year.

That is so awesome. People canning. I really want to do more of this stuff. I have to put in some raised garden beds before winter.

I really miss my folks. You're lucky to have such young parents.
