KlopKlop, Glad you made it through the night intact.
Deer are becoming a problem. I had one remaining pumpkin in my patch. I decided yesterday to give it to my oldest Granddaughter. Today I have no pumpkin. I have pieces of pumpkins and lots of deer tracks.
I threatened to put a high fence around my garden last year, I should have carried through, NEXT year I will, maybe.
I wish deer could be declared a pest!
You could be right, maybe they just make on of those "free to a good home" ads on craigslist.
I know I could eat free chicken for years on the number of "free to a good home ads".
That is a good question ralphie. Some people think I am heartless because I view an animals life much differently than a humans. For example, my sister and brother in law have a rescue pit bull that has bit my mom, wife, stepdad, and a few others. They just had their first child two weeks ago. They still think that dog is fine and not going to be a problem. I on the other hand, would have shot that dog after the first sign of aggression and the thought of them letting an infant lay on the floor with that animal around is very irresponsible. So when I am about to kill a chicken? All I'm thinking about is dinner.KlopKlop, Glad you made it through the night intact.

I have a question about city chickens. I see so many people on (and this is not brought on my anyone on this thread) that have chickens and say they could never kill (cull) one. I admit it is a terrible thing to do but sometimes needs to be done. Chickens require feed to live, feed is not cheap.
So if a person lives somewhere they can only have 6 chickens, and the chickens get to be 3-4 years old and are no longer laying eggs, Do they keep the chickens until they die a natural death in another 3-4 years? Do they take the chickens for a one-way car ride and kick them loose in the country, so someone else has to deal with it?
What good is a coop full of 7 year old hens? I understand if they are just pets, but most often you hear people say they got chickens for the eggs and the pet part is incidental. Just curious.
I know what mine will become when they are no longer productive, luckily for me and not them, I love chicken noodle soup.
KlopKlop, No doubt the three S's apply, if you were to even hint that there cute little chicken was going to be eaten, they would never let you have it.
That dog would not get the chance for a 3rd bite for sure. I figure any dog can bite once, if some one deserves to be bitten. I can even think of some people that deserve to be bitten. BUT that many is way over the biting limit. Cyrus maybe you and I form a "chicken rescue ranch".
I was referring to the deer but it applies to 'pet' chickens too I suppose.
