Minnesota!

Wow! It sure has been awhile since I've been able to get logged back on Backyard Chickens! I lost my phone, a.k.a. my life link, back in June. I'm slowly but surely getting all my usernames and passwords figured out for everything again. Learned my lesson the hard way. The part that really kicks me in the arse is losing all of the pictures I never backed up....sigh....
Welcome back MinnesotaNice! Oh yes, back up phones for sure! Nightmare if you lose everything.

OK here is how my day went yesterday.... I went to let the girls out of the coop and i always say Pooper Pack,,,Pooper Pack,,just to give them a heads up Mommas coming so we can start our day and they wont be startled by the door.. ANYWAYS as i said that i hear this loud restyling inside the coop and i thought Holy Sh$t whats in there,,the girls are chirping away and i was scared to open the door but knew i had to.. so i cracked it open a little and there was some guy in there.. OMFG i screamed and yelled W$F are you doing in my coop!!! he was saying sorry sorry sorry i was just looking for a dry place to sleep.. i told him get the F off my property he is lucky i didn't have my gun on me otherwise i would have shot him.. and if he EVER comes back i will shoot him then call the cops...
So in the heat yesterday i spent the day wiring it and went and bought locks to lock the nest boxes, pop door, big door and screen door.. it was so HOT working in that heat i thought i was going to pass out couple times..i was sweating more then i could drink..
Again this was supposed to be a temporary home until my husband retired BUT for now i have to make it my permanent home..we are right off the freeway and there is a halfway house couple blocks away...nice house nice yard BUT way to close to people for me.. the lady across the alley said she had to get rid of her kids playhouse because people would always sleep in it..

had to edit,,guess i cant swear they automatically delete it...LOL
That is scary. I'm glad you went 'crazy lady' on him, sometimes that scares them more

. I don't remember where you are but that sounds like something that would happen in Anoka. (Kind of have to wonder what's happening in that guy's life that he's homeless). It's a good thing we will have a cooler week coming up. Really don't want to hear about you, or any of the other hard workers on this thread, being taken in for heat stroke!

Oh no, that is terrible! Hope you are able to find out what they are and how to deal with them.

OMG! OMG! wow, I told DH we should get locks for mine too, at least the big doors. OMG, can't imagine! That would have scared the b'jesus out of me.

I picked up a webcam for my run. I may have to get one for the coop as well. I haven't put it up yet as i'm still working on the run. I'm also thinking of getting a baby monitor for the henhouse so when they are sleeping I can hear if all of a sudden they are making lots of noise for some reason and can run out there. I've been pricing them as I need one that can reach about 150 ft in range. Might be something to think about. I doubt the webcam will do much good without me knowing if something is going on, hense the monitor...

Does anybody have webcams or baby monitors? if so, how is it working?
My daughter has 2 boys & has gone through 2 baby monitors, 2 different brands. The best one I ever had came from Radio Shack & was call a room monitor, used it for 15 yrs. Now I think there are security cameras with sound over the wed monitoring for under $200. I think it was at Sam's Club that I saw it, but I don't really remember. Just get away from the baby stuff, it's grossly over priced.

it was southwest of wabasha on highway 60 if I am remembering right. It looked like it may have been a dairy operation. There was a pen that had lots of kids in it and there was full grown goats browsing all over in the hills
Cool. I only know about the dairy goat operation up by Scandia.

BC looks like you guy had a great time. I hate to admit it, but I have never been to Lake Vermillion, or much of that country up north.

There are suppose to be some wonderful bicycle trails that are on my ride one day list. I might get kicked off this site if I say I don't fish; I don't.

I took a motorcycle ride up to wabasha and then down the river and back across. Found lots of great roads down in the bluffs, for sight seeing and riding both. I was amazed how many cool farms j saw with goats and geese and Llammas and the like. One place had to have over 100 goats for sure! Came home and we are on for chicken tv now that the weather is nice!! Welcome back all!!
Sounds like a great day. I love taking 60 to Wabasha. That road is one of my favorites. Then going across the bridge to Nelson and stopping at the creamery. Their back porch is just fantastic and so is their cheese. Great baguettes etc. Then the roads east of there and south past Lacrosse. Try going down around Viroqua. You have to be careful coming around corners because there are a lot of Amish that drive horse and buggy around there. Go a little further along the river to Prarie Du Chien and then head south on X56 to Guttenberg Fun little bars when I was there. Also great places to stay near the river. Stay a night there and ride C9Y up to the winery and then to Breitbach's Country Dining Restaurant or; Just stay in Viroqua and ride around there. The roads are phenomenal and the farms are mostly organic so they will have a different type of vegetables planted in fields side by side giving everything a really beautiful look. I don't know. Maybe you already know about all these places. But I thought I would put it out there. I have had the best times in my life on those roads.

Welcome back Minnesotanice,

WB BC. Not too bad of bullheads. I didn't see the whiskers though.

I would hate to lose the thread too, Why are we talking about this?

I am reformed I hardly ever cuss anymore. Scandia it's ok if you don't fish, I don't ride bicycle.

BTW, did everyone just miss when I said I was willing to part with my Guineas? I figured I would have a couple dozen PMs offers for them.

Love seeing all the great weekend and vacation photos.

My Dynamo is heading back to school today.

*doing the Snoopy dance*

Yesterday was perfect. The Saint Croix did not fail us. Bald Eagles and serenity. We overshot Copas landing and had to paddle two miles upstream. *snort*
