Minnesota!

I just lost three of my hens last Tuesday while they free-ranged. Those critters are hungry out there and storin up for winter. The four I have left are unhappily cooped.Just down the road from you in Big Lake.

Yeah - I am close! I think its eagles or hawks that got my girls. Not a feather to be found and those eagles have been eye balling my chicks off and on for a few weeks. I shoulda known better. But I do know now. And two of them were laying! Ugh!

@Blooie Some of us are all just a bit sensitive around here about the Great Wolf Debate...unbeknownst to you ...because you weren't visiting us last week. In defense of Blooie, here.

But what it comes down to on the Minnesota Thread is a big happy family with different opinions and we self regulated ourselves last week after some heated discussions without the mods. Pretty proud of that. I basically just said I can't go any where else on BYC and that that these were my BYC kin here...because I get eaten up anywhere else on BYC.

There are some beautiful, competent chickeneers on here who also love the beautiful Timberwolf. And there are some that have had their way of life handed to them and financially affected by the Timberwolf and dislike them tremendously. What we agreed upon --because we all like hanging together here on the Minnesota thread-- is that we've Agreed to Disagree.

What I hope everybody can see though is the major smoke being blown up Rhetts Butt by the DNR. She has one fellow in St. Paul in front of a computer giving her confirmation that indeed she's got a Timberwolf print/ evidence. And some guy who's visiting her still on first base not wanting to pull the trigger on kenneling up this nuisance. BTW further evidence there is eating her neighbors' calves. And that is also proven. I hate connecting the dots for people like this. It sounds like you were too nice to him Loretta and didn't show him the email you got from somebody else...? IDK... Why is he still saying Foxy Loxy or Bobcat?

So how do you free-range the chicks then?

Savvy Rooster would be tons of help. Big or Standard sized. Red.

Makes an eagle or hawk think twice before taking him on.

And Cover: Picnic tables moved strategically into the yard. Camper Trailers. Boat Trailers. Landscaping. Cut some brush piles and lay them in the middle of the yard.

My pup is still into bowling and has now discovered their bowls of chicken feed.
