Minnesota!

Yea - see thats what I'm talking about. The very thing - she needs to mess up so that they don't trust her again.

I was talking about the mom who butchered the deer while the guys were out hunting. Maybe I do not have this 'response' thing down yet.

Beautiful warm morning! Got the new portion of the new run stained this a.m. Now I am in the office - lots to do.

so right now I place a box under her with hay in it that way the egg does not brake, is this the right thing to do or do I just let lay it and have it brake

If you have broken eggs, you will start making some egg eaters, and that is never good. You need to get her laying in a nest. Are your nests dark enough, do you think?

I took both female cats in to get spayed today. They are not happy now, out in the big rabbit cage where they will stay until morning when the drugs are all worn off. D A M N!!!! They aren't cheap to vet!!! I want all tom cats from here on out.

Otherwise, I haven't do anything chicken yet. Just checking things on the 'outer before I head out. I was moving furniture for half a day and doing laundry that needs to be sorted and gotten rid of.

I am a coffee-holic, and my machine has to work, but I don't do the k-cup stuff. I have a Mr. Coffee. I had a percolator at one time, and I loved it, but I think my husband threw it away. DH's bio-mom gave me a BUNN one time, but those things just suck electric all day and are a pain in the butt to clean, so I sold it. I would rather use a cheapo from Target until it dies. I just have to run vinegar through when it slows down and it is all good. I do miss the sturdier ones that were the cheap ones 15 years ago, but I am pretty sure that other than the heating element and the hot pad the carafe sits on, it is all plastic. Hubby has a fancy little gizmo that does french press for his one 'espresso style' mug each morning. It looks like mud to me.

Well, I will catch up with you all later. Have a good evening!

I coffee nearly every day. I have a cheap $17 from Target Mr. Coffee. Just like Minnie said when it slows down I run vinegar through it. When it dies I get a new one. They last me a couple years each at least. I for sure am getting my moneys worth in my opinion. Never tried a Kurig. DH keeps yapping about a bunn. I am not interested. I do buy flavored coffee though. And I grind the beans every pot I make.

And to keep things chicken: we need to do a little rearranging. I think I will move all the hens into one coop and do a bachelor coop for the winter. I was tossing around the idea of building another coop but I don't think I will. A little late in the season for that I think.

You could do a hoop like Nikon's and it is quick and fairly easy for a second coop. I am doing it with the mixed laying flock for the winter with a clear tarp on one section and close up the ends for the most part except to get some ventilation.

As for the coffee, I do like the flavored, but only two: Highlander Grog from Cameron's and I grind the beans for every pot also, but I have an electric grinder I use - DH is more sophisticated and he has his own special hand grinder

. Whatever floats one's boat. The other flavor is Caramel Truffle from Millstone, but I can't find it in bean form any more, so I rarely use it, also hard to find now.

I like a very dark Peruvian coffee, however I could not find it last order so I have Kona, which is not my favorite by a long shot. My wife likes the flavored coffees, I do not.

I am hoping to get a hoop coop built this year, maybe two. One for Junior and his harem the other for my roosters. I can then use them for breeding coops in the spring. I might make one more in the spring for breeding. I want to keep the breeding lines pure.

I have a kerig that I use on the weekends, DH uses it everyday. The rest of the week I drink coffe from work, tastes like crap, but it is free, so

been staining the new run the last 3 days, hope to be done tomorrow.

Mother still isn't eating much. Don't think she is molting Lala, at least she isn't dropping any feathers. Do they get off their feed and slow down before they start molting?

Oh, we are suppose to talk chicken stuff too,,,

I went to Runnings today got a new stock tank for brooder next spring. I will also use it for cooling chickens on camp day. My DW said the tank I wanted to use was too dirty. I figure this means I get at least one new stock tank a year for brooding.

I got a predator call also, went and sat by the swamp tonight but called up nothing.

I went to Marties (In Monticello) and got feed I got three bags of 18% finisher for the CXs for there last 4 feedings. I also bought some oats at an outrageous price from them.

I need to get some off craigslist soon.

I also forgot to figure in the cost of the finisher (not that they needed finisher, it is only a quarter more than the 15%) and wood chips when I figured the cost of the CX's. I think I have $7.25 into each one.

I thought about the hoop coop but I didn't pay enough attention to what you all were talking about back then and I am not smart enough to figure out how to find things from posts past. How is the hoop coop warm enough if all you have is a tarp or plastic? And the wind I get here. basically I feel like it is Antarctica for like 3 solid months. How predator proof are the hoop coops too? I still have the wolf on the loose. Any coops I do I have to keep him in mind.
I have been dreading the thought of throwing 18 pullets in the main coop of 29 hens. They are about 14 weeks apart. The youngest ones are 17 weeks and are starting to mature so I need to get a move on and get them settled into whatever there long term coop will be.

I buy the Cameron's coffee. I love the Jamaican me crazy and the highland grog. Mmmmmmm
