I missed morning because I was incredibly stupid this morning at 4:30 when I set off the quail in the tiny coop with the door open, of course. Had to wait til near dawn til the quail still in the coop started calling the missing, I had 3 escapees. Herding quail is nothing, I repeat, nothing like herding chickens. You can't get too close or they flush, and then you are screwed.
You have to have a door open to the run so they can go in, and that means some come out.
If there are crows and ravens screaming, and blue jays, they freeze.
I found out my chickens could care less about the quail.
I had to crawl under more pine trees and through wet wet wet stuff, and I got all kinds of scratches on my face.
It took me 3 and a half hours to get them all back in.
I was late for work.
How's your morning going?
(on the good side, I didn't run out of gas before I could hit a gas station, and I didn't get a speeding ticket on the way to work, and....all quail were accounted for)
