Minnesota!

I also got lucky and didn't have to put the roof on the run my brother in law came over and did it... I was super happy to get the help...

Nice, I'll bet your set up looks outstanding now. We'll need an over all view ;)

Well its back to work for me today. Rather just stay home And get more stuff done. The 2-3 hours of daylight left after I get off work just isn't enough. But, gotta Pay the feed bill. Have a great day every one!

Way to go Holm!

Ditto on great pics everyone

Good thing about this cold weather (ok, cooler, anyway) is that those danged asian beetles will be gone. They were swarming yesterday and I had to quit working outside because they were flying, landing on me, my glasses, in my hair, and those buggers bite!

So excited to get Ralphies creamer roo on Wed...

Have a great day everyone

Congrats holm on the picture. Where do I see the winning photo?

Nice pictures coffee and would love to see the run with all the metal up. When it starts snowing you're going to be glad you did It up right. ;)

Minnie those cornishes look beautiful.

Yesterday it hit 84 degrees. It was almost too hot to do any thing. But hung out 4 more loads of laundry.

Winds blowing today and the colorful leaves will fall today. 45mph predicted. I'll have to round up the leaves with the mower again. But sometimes the wind will swirl in our yard and take them all into the woods which is perfect. I would like more for the run though and for the septic mound.

Tootsie's head is pure blood feathers and his saddle feathers will all be replaced this year too it appears.

Holly my BA who was a bit slow last week has picked herself back up. I'm sure she looks bleached right now -- comb and feathers. It won't be long and she'll drop her feathers. She usually molts hard and late.

I am talking about that thing just above this writing, that is partially cut off in the picture, Weird thing,..

I am glad you got help. but he left some kind of strange object on the roof?

Does anyone know what that is? I have never seen one of those used in chicken construction.

I am not sure I have ever seen one of those things anywhere but in a museum. Sure wish I could remember what it is and what is does.

On the roosters and hens combs, or just the males? I'll post pics of them soon!
Usually just the roosters. I forgot to say that I have a light on a timer for the morning. I just do that because I work nights and get home shortly after seven in the morning and I want them to be awake when I water them so they can all drink before it freezes. I leave it on for a couple of hours so I'm sure it warms the coop a little.

You are a very evil human being! Why would you even put a horrible idea like this in my mind?

I may have to throw out the "shop" stools now!

BBL... Headed to Aussiegals with her rooster.
Of course, maybe your wife had me post something on that order just to make you think you have to get rid of them. Maybe she doesn't want them in the house, if you take them out, she wins. You'll have to decide just how devious her mind is.

Just remember, she has been living with you for a number of years now and some of your tricks could be wearing off on her.

How my day has been going:

Yesterday I split up two clusters of peonies and moved them around (the green spikes in the middle of the fresh compost). Then I moved most of the rocks. Those came out of the granary and I think this was a good use of them. In the middle section under the "tower" we will put sand and then do something with hens and chicks in planters (old rusted chicken waterers). I have a bunch of spring blooming bulbs order, so those will go in here along with perennials I bought this summer and need to get in there quick. I will likely put some annuals in for color, but this is mostly going to be a perennial garden. And with the hooks still up from the swings, we can hand or trellis things up those as well. The tree on the front end is a Japanese lilac we got this Spring. All compost is from the chicken poop/litter and grass clippings and any dead birds and bad eggs that didn't hatch, and any scraps the chickens don't get. It is pretty nice stuff, but I keep finding bones in it LOL.

I guess the new chicken hoop will get done tomorrow.

I hope everyone got a chance to enjoy the beautiful day!!
Do you have a problem with your chickens eating your hen & chick plants? Mine seem to like them even better than their scratch. If I don't fence them (the plants) in, they're gobbled up in minutes.

Did you put anything down under the compost as a weed barrier? I'm going to try to create a hosta garden next year under my silver maple trees and I was debating whether I should put something down or not. I don't know if that would block too much water from the trees or does water go through the weed barriers ok.
I've never tried a perennial garden before and would appreciate any info anyone would like to share with me.
Holm made the top 30 for the BYC calendar! Show us your picture Holm!
