Mix is right. But I have seen a lot of pictures of Legbars that there seems to be little consistency in the color of the breed, then some have crests and some don't. I like to stick with the tried and true breeds, unless am playing with a fun pairing like my Barred bantam hen with a Silkie or Faverolle. I need to take some of those pictures!
I beg to differ, which I rarely do because you have forgotten more about chickens than I will ever know. I love my Cream legbars. They are eye candy to the 9th degree. Almost all of mine look the same but that I assume s natural coming from the breeding trio I got from Heidi.
I will never make money on chickens, I have them because I enjoy them. Junior is a mix and he is a handsome fellow. Considering his parents were both hatchery stock, I could not ask for better. I have posted pictures but pictures do him no justice.
I have a little Creamette EE cross, it is the cutest teenage bird in the flock.
and when I saw Scandia's picture I assumed Creamer and something, but his coloring is very close to my creamers. ( I really do not understand why the people on the cream legbar threads hate my nicknames). I think her rooster is pure eye candy. To me eye candy beats everything else.
I do not want consistency in my birds, I want variety in most of them. The "pure" breeds I will keep pure, if I can. My problem is I want too much! lol
Anyways I just wanted to voice opposition to your view while being respectful of your knowledge and experience.
