Minnesota!

Mornin' everyone,

Am off to reduce my rooster roster.

Is it too early for tequila?

Not if you have a bit of lime juice with it

It's done.
Two shots of tequila and four roosters later, I'm ready for plucking.
My flock needs serenity. Other than my randy banty Cochin who is only worth an appetizer we have moved closer.

Minnie these r ducks I hatched. They were fed layer and corn so about same as my other ducks.
Maybe you gave the bigger ones a bit more TLC then

However, with chickens, if you are breeding larger hens, you should see that the overall size increases in the offspring, so maybe you have a couple of the larger birds that ended up being parents? Whatever the case, you did well in making a more productive bird, I think, since the Pekins are mainly used for meat. I did enjoy having their big eggs to bake with, and one consistently gave me double yolks to boot, so that was nice. I just had to pull back from ducks for a while.

It's all part of the bigger picture. Your flock will be happier and perhaps the hens will be more productive by taking out the excess boys.

The flock is already calmer. Gockel is a far more benevolent rooster.

We have two left, an EE rooster and a white roo who was the filler with the JG. They act more like hens, and as long as they do so I'll leave them alone.

The randy banty Cochin is an over eager teenager.
