Coffee, you go girl! have fun, and don't put up with any bulls#@^. I'm kind of surprised your son isn't having a fit about you dating?

Bogtown, wonder how your bubble insulation will do, tonight is the first test maybe? I always forget to check the thermometer in the coop. It will be interesting to know if yours shows much of a difference. Do you have snow already up there?

well its 1 person and when my husband found out he was dying he wanted me to date him. I told him no it will Never happen so stop talking about it and he told my son if it happens he needs to be ok with it... and I guess my husband was right... LOL.. I will never love the same again..ever... but ive been friends with this person for 30 years.. always thought he was hot,, was best friends with his wife before she died and he was my husbands Best friend... so we know everything about each other all ready so no need to play any games.. but it is still strange....

its hard to believe you only got them 6 months ago!

Are the kitties out in the barns yet?  or still inside kitties?

That was just my rainbows a few RIR and BAs. I had leghorns and Lucille before that.

And the kitties are still inside. I need to do some more organizing in my shop before they are ready to move. I have Friday off for that cause :)

I think a few people are taking a break from the thread....
The way I see it, these internet forums are not like reality where you choose your friends and who you like to hang out and chat with. These are wide open to anybody and everybody, so of course there will be differences of opinion. There are very few people on here that I'm not much fond of based solely on the things they say here, but this is just the tiniest glimpse into who they really are. Maybe we'd be great friends if we actually met in person. Maybe not. People just need to learn how to keep on scrolling when they read something they don't like instead of getting all bent out of shape about it. When you get this many people from all different backgrounds and walks of life in one "room" there's bound to be some tension. I guess if it got to the point where the majority of what I was reading was really bothering me I would just stay away, but as long as there are still a lot of great folks on here I'm willing to scroll past the few posts I don't like. That's kind of my outlook in life in general... Focus on the positives and the things you like, don't waste your energy on the negatives, and think before you speak :)

EGGSACTLY!!!!!!! LOL

Ok... so chicken story time!

i went out for lockdown tonight after I got home from youth group at church. the light were already off in my coops and all the hens were roosting so i thought i would do head count for the first time in a while. usually at lock up they are still milling around and eating with the lights still on now adays. so i counted heads and came up short by one. i recounted several times, continuing to hit just 32 girls. i was very sad and started counting by breeds and confirmed i was 1 RIR short in that coop. i did a quick hunt around the coop and the corn crib to make sure she didnt just roost outside. no luck. i was pretty sad.

I stopped into the other coop for lockdown and head count to make sure i wasn't missing any more girls. Turns out i was +1 RIR hen in that coop :) she defected from Buck's gang to Conrad's crew

what a relief and a good chuckle. i will be doing more head counts to see if i can tell if this is a permanent move or not.

Remember a while back I told you guys my coworker was leaving? Well we hired a replacement. He started Monday and I have been CRAZY busy trying to train him and still get my work done.

Nothing interesting on the chicken front to share except that they are as sick of the crappy weather as I am.

I had a dentist appointment today which tells me that most of my girls are 6 months old now. I picked them up from the feed store after my last appointment. Sigh... They grow up so fast! Lol
If you think chickens grow up fast, wait and see how you feel if you and the DW decide to have children! I can remember the day my first was born as vividly as if it were yesterday, and I can recount about every minute of that day (OUCH!), and now he lives on his own in Rochester and works and goes to school and I barely see him. But I went to the choir and band concert tonight at the college and had dinner with him and his girlfriend and it was wonderful. At the same time I keep thinking, "How can he be a young man already?"

Be careful tonight. This is what happened last year when mine got frost bit. It was November, raining and warm, then the temps dropped below freezing quickly. There was a draft and they got frostbit combs, 2 of my girls, my BO and my Golden Comet. So if you have big combs on your birds and your coop is damp due to the rain, then I would considered putting bag balm on their combs tonight. as a precaution.
That is why I locked almost all my birds into the coop and attached runs today!
