Minnesota!

Well, I am still not getting much for eggs. Nothing from my EEs. Since the run is fully enclosed now I don't shut the coop door so when the light comes on they go down there. I may have to install more lights.....

On another note.
On turkey day the wife decided that we would not go to her folks house because they weren't going to do anything traditional. Soooo, now everyone decided they are coming to my house so I have to cook for 14. The wife and I have been trying to figure everything out for plates, chairs, serving dishes, etc. Arrg. Never had 14 here before. Our table fits 10 max and the center island in the kitchen seats 4 max.... Our living room is very small. We have the original farm house in the Neighborhood. Built 1900. By the soldiers cemetery. doors everywhere and smaller rooms for easy heating.

My brother's (ex) girlfriend told us she was going to cook Thanksgiving meal for us at my brother's house. He has one of those kitchens where the stove alone cost $10,000.
She's flaked out on us and I'm going to save the day.
*sigh*

Yeah. But we enjoy it. Right? All the planning and the fun of the day. I am going to do the turkey on my grill so I can keep my oven open for other things like popovers and then I also have a commercial tabletop convection air that can roast like no other. It will be fun. But you have to complain a little. That is part of the fun too.

You're right, cooking in that kitchen will be fun.

What kind of convection oven do you have?

And if you care to share a photo of your house, I'd love to see it. Am an absolute fan of farmhouses. Ours was built around that time as well, by one of the early Scandia settlers.

Morning, all!

Klop klop, thank you for the kitten pics.  So sweet.  hope they grow up to great varmit controllers!

Scandia, I can't believe how gorgeous your rooster is.   I noticed he doesn't have any frostbite - makes me second guess my thought that the frostbite on my roo isn't from too much moisture, just from a really big comb.

Today is the day the new hens have to learn how to come out from the coop for food and water through the dreaded chicken door - since I won't be home mon or tues.  Its too much to ask that they find their way back in that way, but we will see.  I hate when to come home from work in the dark and have to go searching in the run via headlamp for the places the hens are miserably hiding because they couldn't find their way back in.

Thank you. He 's one of my favorites. His brother is the one we lost early in the summer. Fox or hawk, I think. We never found any signs of struggle. They are both precocious and would wander away from the flock.

well at least you have a gigantic turkey to feed everyone!

It's 22 degrees in Scandia and I'm almost done with my coffee. The flock is outside basking in the sun.
After witnessing yet another gang bang of one of the hens, my resolve is strengthened to cull roosters. Plus one of my Bresse is bald.
