Minnesota!

Mornin' all. Last day of work for the week, then I'm off for the long weekend. Hubby and I will head down to Duluth just for the day to eat with my family at my mom's. His family doesn't really do holidays, so it's nice not to have to juggle two family affairs.
I just have to make up a pecan pie tonight to bring tomorrow. I may stay down there until Friday to make Christmas cookies with mom then she'll have to drive me home. Hubby will have to come back Thursday to take care of the critters.
Have a great day everyone!

Hope everyone has a great day.. Here is my girl today.. Think I will cull her after I get the pumpkin bars in oven .. I do have enough meds for couple more days but don't think that will help much..

Coffee, I am just so sorry you have to deal with this. I can't think what the heck is going on with her, but she surely doesn't look good. Letting them go is hard, but sounds like you are doing the right thing by her.

THe roo from @duluthralphie has decided the new girls are his flock. He is pretty cute, learning the drop the wing dance. He actually mated the silkie, and after the first time this morning, she gave him what for as in "thats enough now". And he backed off. Made overtures to a couple of the other hens but they just walked away. He has stopped harassing and chasing the tiny barred rock, meep-meep

While I was watching the flock, I put hay and leaves on the strawberry bed and the garlic bed. So nice and warm out! Picked some kale for the girls and the quail, and cleaned the quail coop. Now for a last cup of coffee before house cleaning and pie baking. (don't I know how to procrastinate?).

@scandiafowl
sorry to hear about you mom.

@Mistahbue
That looks like it hurts. I agree, time to go to camp. I have a couple that need to go to camp, just because I have too many roosters.

@Coffee 1st
I'm so sorry about your little hen. That's the hard part of being their caretakers.

@Minniechickmama
there was a time I could do a million things in a day, not anymore. Maybe I got lazy, or maybe I got smart. ;)

I love seeing all the pictures & reading all the posts, thanks everyone. I always forget to take pictures, except of the grandkids. I will try to remember to get pictures of the nnew coop that I'm working on. It looks so nice, but really I'm just using up a bunch of stuff from the remodel at our store & boards from around here. I've had to buy the wood for the run & am having someone else build that. I guess I'm still trainable.

And for all of you that have been so supportive on the health issues, UPDATE DH's surgery which was scheduled for Friday is now postponed, again! This time it was due to our GM, of almost 20 yrs, gave his notice. It will be strange driving DH back & forth to work again. I think once he has surgery, then I'll let y'all know that it actually happened.:he

Tonight I put everyone in lock down. It's really noisy out there tonight with 'yotes. They are close too.

Morning Aussie, yep they are out there! Rosie had a very restless night because of coyotes.

What kind of surgery keeps getting postponed? I'm sorry if I haven't been following ... :-)

Thanksgiving update:

Was mentally prepared to cook, the girlfriend stated she wanted to cook.
As of last night she may be flying out to her mother, who in all fairness is terminally ill.

We could start a betting pool on whether I'm cooking or not.
One dozen eggs says I'm cooking tomorrow :-)

coffee, I've been thinking. I don't know where you are with $$$, but you could consider taking her to the vet lab of the u of m for a necropsy. They will cull her for you, or you can bring her body to them. They would tell you what it was....just in case it is something you need to know about for the rest of your flock. If I remember right, it is $75 .

just a thought!
