@lalaland

So which mealworms did you decide on?
I recently learned about some coming from China.

Good news! Bea, the broody banty was roosting with her gal pals this morning.

My Rosie is a shredder. It's impossible to keep a toy around for too long. My daughter has learned the hard way not to leave her stuffed animals on the floor.

Is that a hound trait? Or just an annoying one?

Rose does have hound in her, but she doesn't rip up toys. Her sister does, though...(not litter mates), so poor Rosie hardly ever gets to play with a soft toy, because Sadie will steal it.
I would also try mashed up canned sweet-potato, my sick girls loved that stuff. Almost as much as live meal worms!
I have some canned pumpkin, might try that. She has turned her beak up at everythig she usually loves. I shredded some arugula for her this morning and she ate that right up. Mealworms have to wait til they are out of the frig and room temp so they wiggle!

I did find the mealworms you suggested, because I remembered enough from looking at them the first time. Should be here Monday I think. THe bait shops around here have wax worms and something called srikers?

Off to make the monthly pilgramage up to askov feed to get mash, scratch, oyster shell. and peanut butter dog cookies.
have a great day everyone!

This is a Rosie in her natural habitat. We had her DNA tested, Shiba Inu, Staffordshire and Doberman. Who know what else snuck in there.

That's an interesting mix. Shibas are small, so odd... Those definitely look like hound dog legs though

Everyone must be enjoying their weekend. We had spent the day with my family celebrating Christmas. Just stopped in at home for evening chores then back to town for evening festivities with them. I have a rainbow hen that is playing broody. She is mean too! Two nights in a row I've kicked her off the nest with a single egg under her (aka she has sat all day) with her pecking me and snarling!

What is a rainbow hen?

My mother and I were talking about this..

Our two Swedish Flower hens will not go outside. They hang out in the coop. Being that they are the Volvos of chickens you'd think they would laugh at this weather.

I think they have rooster PTSD. When we had too many roosters those two were frequently targeted.

Alas, my leghorn didn't make it

I put her in the corner of the coop this morning so she would be out of the way but be able to get some room to move when everyone went outside. She kind of huddled down and watched the flock. When I got home tonight it looks like she never even moved. Just tucked her head over passed away

maybe she just needed to see the flock one last time. Breaks my heart but at least she isn't hurting any more.
So sorry!! I thought she would come around. :-(
