We use Frontline for our dog. We bought it from the vet and over the counter. I've even purchased it off of Amazon, but not from a third party seller. Some claim Frontline that is purchased over the counter, on Amazon, etc. are fakes. I don't really have an opinion. We haven't had any issues. I just know it's about 50% cheaper on Amazon and that makes me happy.

I am fairly certain there is a difference in the primary ingredient. We used the stuff from fleet farm for about 2 months on our dogs and after once camping trip in the woods and watching the ticks laugh at the medicine as they crawled on the dogs we called the vet. She told us that they were different. Costs a few more bucks a month but we have had zero flea or tick issues since. They usually have a buy some get some free deal so that helps too.

If the 'OTC' stuff is good enough for use on birds that would be great. We actually have some left from that summer i could use. As long as it doesn't expire as it is 2 years old.

I don't even use Frontline brand, I have used two other brands bought at Fleet Farm and Runnings. I don't care what is on the label, just what is in the ingredients, which is fiporil. Sentry is one brand at FF, the other is Petarmor from Runnings. I buy the large dog sized pack and get most of my birds done in one package. I still use Sevin when I put down clean bedding too. Like I said, I have sparrows getting in and until I can block all those holes in winter, they will continue to be something to watch. In Summer, there is no way to keep them out of a pasture.

I will be learning to swab my birds for AI tomorrow, and should be able to get my PT testing done. I have just sent in debris samples from hatching the last few years, but this year I won't be doing as much hatching so I thought the blood testing would be quicker and easier to get everything done early and get all the paperwork out of the way to start shipping eggs. I think I am down to about 120 bird now. Fun times poking that many. NOT!

minniechickmama, I cant imagine testing 120 birds!

I can tell it is nearly spring since the skunks are out. I keep a bedroom window cracked open year round - and when the skunks waddle by the stink wakes me up. Nothing like waking up gagging. So 3:30 last night.....yup! gagging. So on the way to the coop in the dark, I get to try not to fall on my keister on the smooth ice path, and try not to trip on any skunks!

anyone interested in 8 bobwhites? almost a year old? healthy? free?
