@scandia this one is hard to beat, lol. My husband, when we first got chickens. This young one literally loved hanging out on your shoulder (not white castle though).

For those that have let hens go broody... at what age do you let mom go to the big outdoors with the chicks?
Depends on the weather, usually as soon as they are all hatched and mom takes them off the nest. I have a small pen that I put them in for the first couple of weeks (it's not critter-proof so I put them back in the coop at night). After that they free range with the rest of the chickens. Even in nasty weather they can crawl under mom and warm up. So unless it's really wet and cold, they are out enjoying the grass, bugs and sunshine as soon as possible.
