Haazegirl your ducks are beautiful! I'm getting some of these in the next couple of weeks. So excited! I'm sorry about your loss though.

Stupid wind and cold.

We didn't get above 23 yesterday and had snow on and off all day. I like to think I'm pretty tough in cold weather (I'm a CA transplant) but it was so cold with the wind. I could hardly believe it! I have chicks coming this week and I hope it warms up a little so they don't die on me.

Haazegirl....so sorry for your loss.

I complain about this weather, too. But,thank God we aren't having tornados, tsunamis, earthquakes or hurricanes, etc. I'll just stay in MN.

My ducklings have doubled in size in just one wk. Surprising how fast they grow. Haven't got their house and run ready for them yet. They are in a brooder pen in the heated garage right now. I found a cute litte "doghouse" on craigslist that will be their house and I will be using dog kennel panels for their run. Here is a pic of the little house, which needs a few adjustments and also a pic of my ducks a wk after prev. pic that I posted.

That is a very nice dog house! I have one but it's smaller and would not be convenient for cleaning or collecting eggs. Don't know what to do with it other than if we get a dog. Maybe we could raise it and use some hardware cloth to keep bunnies in. I don't normally complain about the weather, but it has made things very hard this year!

My husband left town for the coldest week in Feb. and everything broke/froze. We caught 8 raccoons, 8 skunks, a possum, and a wood chuck. Those critters broke a lot of stuff trying to get in that week. Now one of our brand new ducks is gone due to insane wind. It will be nice when spring decides to show up! Just have to order some red broilers now and get the brooders ready. I should have bought some ducklings when I was picking up the trio, they are the cutest things ever! Maybe I'll order some with the broilers.

I'd have to agree with ya there! Born and raised here, going on 36 years now and it seems every winter is a little longer each year. I just got everyone out to the spring coop on a 70 degree day and now it's back to heat lamps again

Haazegirl...sounds like you should maybe get a dog to go with that doghouse so it can keep those pesky critters away!

My DH will be putting the duckhouse up on legs so it will be easier for me (or him, lol) to clean out. I gotta bad back so can't be stooping way down to clean it. Need to get it painted inside and put something down on the flooring like vinyl. I for sure can't get in there to paint so I'm gonna have to snag one of the grandkids to do it.
