Minnetrista Minnesota Residents - Support Changing Our City Code

CITY COUNCIL IS VOTING MAY 5th!

Great news! Claudia Lacey has agreed to sponsor the code change amendment and this waives the fee entirely! Monday 4/21/25 is the final working session and they are planning to vote on May 5th.

If you have not already, please be sure to reach out to the entire council ahead of the vote to voice your support and excitement. They are planning to start small but a win is a win. We're moving from fully illegal to an excuse to have a coop/run on your property at all. The city will revisit the ordinance after a year and will continue to increase the number allowed assuming it passes and there are no issues. As of now there is only one council member that has voiced opposition to the change but lives in an HOA that has a bylaw preventing it anyway. We are expecting the change to be approved by the majority.

Thank you for the support. Excited to see some good come from the local government! Maybe next I'll take on those ridiculous water rates! đź«

City Council is voting tonight 5/5/2025.
If you have not done so already, be sure to voice your support today! Cathleen Reffkin and Peter Vickery are the only two that voiced opposition in the recent working session. Available here starting at minute 49 -

A big note is that St Boni, Mound, Minnetonka, Edina, and MANY more allow chickens today. St Boni said there is only one single call anyone can recall which was an accidental rooster that was rehoused quickly. St Boni has much smaller lot sizes and they have zero special requirements with zero issues.
