Miracle two-hour broody cure! (Updated this morning)(Afternoon update)

I tried the ice cure on my chronic broody a few years back, but it didn't work. Or I should say it worked only temporarily. I gave up breaking her years ago. I let her do her broody thing until she goes into a forced molt from the stress, and then she snaps out of it until her feathers come back. And then she goes broody again. This has been going on for years now.

I suspect men have been saying that about us for centuries!!

I have a hen gone broody in the last few days. Guess I'll try and fix up a nest box for her and put her in the secure side yard of my coop. My only other option being the coop in my work shop where I presently have my month old ducklings. Problem being I haven't made a house for the ducks outside by the chicken house yet.

Yup, this has been my experience. Well, with the last one I bought a few day olds, which also worked fine.

Otherwise, I just take them off the nest and chase them outdoors every time I'm in the coop. I hope this way they at least get a little more food and exercise.

Can you give the broody just one or two chicks? The more "broody" hen threads I read the more I start to panic thinking about how many broody breeds I've got! I wanted some broodies so I could let them raise their own replacements someday. My plan was to do the slip a miracle chick under her at night trick once we get there. But goodness I don't need THAT many replacements.... if they all go broody or go broody three times a year?!?! GAH!
