Since you mentioned the odd shape of your run, I suppose hardware cloth/wire is out of the question. Other than that, the urine thing that Miss Prissy mentioned and maybe try hanging bags of human hair collected from hairbrushes in nylon bags (use old knee high stockings for bags). They say it works for deer, don't know about squirrels.
I've always found it interesting that out in here in the middle of the boondocks we don't have very many squirrels at all. Well, there was that one, but ummm I only saw it after Kitty had killed it. They must taste good though. As opposed to the rats and mice that she leaves as whole gifts for me, she only left me the "shell" of the squirrel. She ate the rest.

dunno if this would be practical, but:

if you could find the remains of a roll of aluminum flashing, you'd probably need it AT LEAST 12" wide and wider would really be better, wrap it all the way around your run NEAR THE TOP of the run walls. you can punch holes nr the edge of it and use bits of wire or zip-ties. The idea is that the squirrel climbs up the run fence but then can't get a hold for the last little ways to get over the top.

Might be a problem in high winds. But I've seen vaguely similar things done to keep other climbing crittrs out, so I thought I's at least mention it.

You need to train your chickens somehow to go after squirrels. Hm, catch a squirrel, dip him in peanutbutter and roll him in scratch, then set him loose, maybe the chickens will then think *all* squirrels are made of candy... LOL

Good luck, they are frustrating little buggers aren't they,

When I broadcast sunflower seeds or other treats outside, everybody who wants to eat eats. Chickens, squireels, blue jays, crows - whoever, whatever.

awwwwww!!!! I love that! I have several squirrels that eat the leftover cracked corn and alfalfa from the chicken coop when I clean it and put it in my garden area. Cute picture Nick!!

Good Rambo squirrel!

I think the flashing would work except that I left trees for shade outside the fence and they just leap from tree to fence- I've seen them, the llittle rats...

I think we are going to try the bobcat urine we have sitting around- if I were a squirrel, that would give me second thoughts.

I really, really wish one of our JRTs could be trusted near the chickies- they LOVE hunting squirrels. Unfortunately, they love hunting everything.
