This was my second back surgery and my 6th surgery from this accident. It has been a long hard road, and hopefully one day I'll get there.

I know it's rough, Mama thought she would just hop right up after the first surgery and be fine in a couple weeks. Of course we are all stubborn and she finally had to admit that it was much harder than she thought. The ultimate reward for taking it easy, following DR instructions and letting it heal properly, is that you will be out of pain.

lockedhearts, I know. I have been taking it easy since the surgery. This is the first time I have and had to make several life altering choices (not for the better either) in order to do it. We knew it was going to be a long recovery this time, but after awhile, the pain still wears on ya.

I am in decent shape which helps. I am 5'10" and 160lbs. So I don't have the added weight on me to work with like many people do, and I feel fortunate for that.

It's just hard to not be able to help my family contribute to our survival with a paycheck. I do take care of the house by cleaning, having a good dinner cooked for my wife, etc. So, I do help, but it's still hard if that makes any sense at all.

kinnip, I have never been one of those men by any means that thought that the old ways of a homemakers chores were not work.

The tables have turned in our house because of all this, and it is nice for my wife to come home from work and have a nice meal, a clean house, etc. I just want her to concentrate on her job, and not have to worry about anything at home.

It would be nice though if I could fill this roll, and also still bring in enough money piddling around the farm so that she didn't have to work overtime as much as she does. I think that would be very doable once I get going with it, it's just the getting started part that's hard.

Thank you everyone for the input, and all of the other posters with pains & illnesses, I am still praying for each and everyone of you as well.

I'm on a medication that has the unfortunate side effect of making me throw up once in a while after I take it. I'm sitting, waiting for a three-hour grad. class to start, and my stomach is letting me know it exists...

Hey there everyone in this post. Just wanted to jump in and say I hope your having a better day dealing with the pain or illness today.

I am praying for each and every one of you. Hang in there! I have a doc appointment tomorrow I have to go to for a check up on my back. As bad as it hurts, I wonder if my bone graft is taking like it should, but then I remember it has only been three months since the surgery.
