Mislabeled Tractor Supply/Feed Store Chicks

Hatcheries or Butcheries?
The way they do the boy babies, throwing them in grinders if they don't sell. If possible, buy straight run and eat or rehome those boys so at least they can experience this wonderful condition called life.

Oh, I don't buy from hatcheries. I'm too much of a chicken snob for that. I breed and raise show birds - brahmas, ko shamos, and ayam cemanis. I have been breeding ayam cemanis for going on six years now. My extra roosters either find homes or get donated to feed the raptors at a place that rehabilitates them near me.

I usually don't buy from TSC either, but I broke for the turkeys, lol.

Beats the sh!t out of drudging thru the woods and swamp, battling cotton mouths and copperheads just to find some turkey eggs to hatch.

Oooh do you ship? Ive been wanting Ayam Ceminis for a long time. Usually can't afford it though. If you do ship I think I'll start saving up!

Yes :) I'm NPIP certified so I can ship. However, I likely won't have chicks or pairs again until next spring.

I live in NE USA and my TSC is always right with breed labeling. I trust them and most of the staff even can tell cockerels from pullets with most breeds.

How do they do that? Sex link males and females hatch different colors, and some barred breeds and duckwing breeds you can make a good guess on based on color pattern, but the rest would have to be vent sexed. I'm not sure I would trust that they can actually tell the difference.
