miss pepperpots are rir crossed with marans but many hatcheries say that they only come in females do they just not sell males or what? there has to be males to make the chicks. thanks!!

Sounds like a sex linked cross so they can tell what sex the chicks are when they hatch by the colour of their down. That way they can guarantee their customers are only getting pullets/hens. Sex linked birds don't breed true in any way so having a rooster from that cross is of no benefit.
