missing cat..how do you cope with the not knowing?

Yea!!!:weee That Is So Great!!! I have 2 inside /outside cats, neutered boys. The first time one didn't come home I worried like crazy! Went to all the neighbors around. We are in the country on 2 and half acres w/ small pond. And creek and lots of trees and brush. I searched a half dozen times around the property and was about to give up after 2 days when the 2nd one was gone and didn't come back in the evening. The next day I looked 3 times. In the evening I started walking around meowing because the second one would always respond to that. 10 minutes later I heard a meow back. And followed it to find both of the about 15 feet from each other in the trees and brush. I must have passed the first one a dozen times but couldn't see him and he was so sick he could barely keep his head up and the other one was very weak. DSO and I nursed them back to health. We used to have strays come by alot and while we discouraged them and would chase them off we weren't as diligent as we should have been.. Ours go to the vet regularly and get all the shots. The vet said probably one of those strays brought some kind of virus like a cold or flu. Now we run off every stray everytime we see one. And so far most don't come back for quite a while. And the boys usually sleep Iin on the back porch.

hey there
I am going through the same thing at the moment.. My little boy has been missing a week now.. Have you found your cat??
I was told to put a piece of clothing that you have worn, outside... Apart from putting up flyers, and registering with the RSPCA and phoning the vets, all you can do is have some faith that hey may come back.. There is stories of cats leaving for 3 weeks and returning.. I hope you find some peace.

We lost our beloved cat two weeks ago. She is a sweet loving house cat, but likes to escape. I had ordered a GPS collar for her, that would have fit nicely on a large German Shepherd. Now that she is gone, I did find one for cats. I think it's $99, and there is a small monthly fee for the service, which I would gladly pay if she were here. If anyone's interested, the name of the company is paw track. It's the only one I could find for cats. Good luck to all, & I haven't completely given up.

Hi, I've lost my darling Lola and it hurts so so much your so right about not knowing where she is! When it rains I cry at the thought she is out in that weather

It's only been 3 days tho so I'm not giving up anytime soon!!! We live in the country side so do u have any tips for finding them there??? If u have lost a cat look at night to find them cause apparently that helps a lot?! Anyway this chat has reassured me thanks xx

My daughters cat went missing for four months! We called everyone and went door to door, no luck.
We put a live trap out with some canned chicken in it and caught her. It took a while, and we also caught the neighbors cat, a couple wild cats and three racoons.
When she came back her tail was bent funny, permanently downward, had fleas and she now has a two inch white scar on her side.
No idea what she went through, but do not give up hope. Do you have access to a live trap? We put ours in an old junk filled garage of our neighbors.
Hope he comes back!

Im having trouble finding forums on this topic I live in rural northeast Georgia in a small house in middle of cow pasture with wooded areas i rescued Solo when he was barely 3 weeks old he was only 1 left out of 2 litters that the property owners where he was born didn' kill that was last July he' always been an outside cat he can come in when he wants but he likes to hang out by himself a lot(hints the name Solo) he will sometimes come in to eat if it' quiet & still he will even come in to sleep for a while every time before he eats he has to get in my lap so I will pet him he will purr & knead sometimes even suckle on my clothes then he hops down goes & eats on evening of Feb 7 he came in ate I gave him his fav treats (hes addicted to temptation crunchy with soft middle & catnip) then he went to door meowed for me to let him out I have not seen him since he has never stayed gone more than 24 hours I know he is a great hunter has been since a baby he isn't neutered i have a female who has been around him since october she is 8 months old they close but not "compaions" they don' spend a lot of time around each other as she tends to stay close to house (usually the roof) & he likes to venture wider range not further than 60-70 yards she is first female he's ever been around I recently had her fixed I think she may have been close to going into heat i know there are coyotes in the area but i havent heard any in couple of months theres not really any super busy streets plus hes really wary of other people or really any sudden unpredictable commotion I haven' seen any sign of him at all I went looking on foot with mom' jackabee whom has been around solo his whole life (but not a large amount of time spent "hanging out" found no signs of solo not track no fur bones nothing I don' know what to do sorry it' such long post I was just trying to cover all basics

Keep up the publicity campaign. Somebody may see him. Be sure to let the mail carrier and any delivery personnel know to keep an eye out for him. However, it is a sad fact that anything can happen to cats with access to the outdoors. There are cars, coyotes, and dogs to name a few. We once had a kitten carried off by a hawk.

That said, I once had a cat go missing for three years. Something ticked him off and he left. When he came back he was in good shape. I have no idea where he was during that time or why he decided to return.
