Multiple cat losses would lead me to believe a large owl. Cats like to hunt at night and if they are out in the open, especially kittens, they would be easy prey for a large barn owl. The owl would be down and have them whisked away before they even knew there was an owl about.
ETA: I don't think fox or coyote for the cat losses as the cats would smell that they've been around, hear them, and see them. Maybe ONE cat to a coyote or fox, but not multiples...
