Missing feathers on stomach? WENT TO THE VET!!! Not good...

I am so sorry. You have to know you are giving her the best, longest life she could have with your great care. Sometimes we don't get to keep pets as long as we like but we can do all we can to make what time they have as good as possible. Love her and hold her lots!

Aww, hon, I'm so sorry to hear that you got bad news.

Not sure that anything I say would make it better, but I'm really pleased that you cared enough to keep these close tabs on her, and that you brought her into get better medical treatment.

I'm sorry to hear all that.

You are a very caring and responsible duck owner, noticing the problem and persisting till you got an answer. Your duckie is in great hands.

What did they say the outlook was for her?

Really sorry to hear that... it's tough when there isn't much you can do for them besides making them comfortable. So the feathers ended up being like a secondary thing from stress but the real issue is internal. That sucks so bad.

Thank you. And they told me that with her not being done growing yet that xrays and tests would be a waste of money and that sometimes they can grow out of the mermor but with her being the age she is now and still seeing how small she is and not even fully feathered they deffinitly think that something is wrong with her heart and deffinitly think that this is not going to go away and the only way for me to find out is to let them do all these tests. But even if i let them run the tests (if i had the money) It would just tell me what is wrong with her and what medication to give her but i wont put her on the meds anyway becuase they said the stress from forcing pills down her throat twice a day could be to stressful and could kill her. They said i can bring her back when ever i want and free of charge they will keep an eye on listening to her heart to see if it gets worse. The stress and how bad this is and what is actually wrong with her all plays a factor in her life span. I just moved her outside with the rest of my ducks last week. Untill then i have completely raised her inside. I think i want to bring her back inside and do the best i can for her. She seems happier being around people and being able to cuddle next to me to watch tv or read a book at night.

I am so sorry to hear this. She definately is in good loving hands and that's what is best for her. She is loved. As a former vet tech, I was going to say that many murmurs do go away. Lets hope for the best. She has lived this long with the wonderful care she is getting. I will pray for you both and hope for the best for both of you.

Thank you. They were telling me that they usually go away but since this has been affecting her growth since hatch they strongly believe it will not and that there is a deeper reason inside of her that is going on with her heart and i cant afford all the tests. Being a ex vet tech you know how expensive they probably are and what they have to do to her.

I think you are right not to put her through the stress of the tests. It doesn't sound like there'd be much to be gained. Continuing to make her comfortable and happy is probably the best thing.

That is my plan. The only thing i plan on letting them do to her is xrays because those are not that bad and not that bad cost wise either. The xrays will at least tell me if her heart is enlarged or small and i will know how to take care of her from there. If the xrays dont show anything then we will know it is more serious and to be even more careful with her and she might even have less time.
