Ok ya'll I need your opinions. I have a Royal Palm hen that has gone missing. I have a small flock of them and about a week ago I noticed that I was only getting one turkey egg a day, where I normally got three to four. Anyways, a couple days ago one of my hens went "missing". A second hen disappears during the day but comes back at night. The."missing" hen hasnt been back for four or five days. I have not found any signs of an attack, nor have I lost any other birds (chickens or turkey). Ideas? I'm hoping shes ok? Or should I stop being optimistic??

This is my first spring with turkey and most of my free range chickens keep their nests pretty "findable" but I cant find the turkey. Are they hiders? LOL. I am surrounded by woods, do you think she would go into the woods to hide her nest? They dont normally go too far into them, but occasionally go into the edges.

Haha! Ill hope then! And Im going on a super trek to see if I can find her this weekend! Would be awesome to find her on a nest!

I'm going to guess she's broody. The weather is right and so is the season. It sounds like she was laying the eggs for a few days before she decided to set. Look for any lean-to's she may be able to nest under. I had a palm go broody under a piece of wood leaning up against the wall in the cluttered area of the "extra pile of materials" area.

Good luck in finding her!

I had a Royal Palm Tom leave for a few days but he just went out for a quart of milk and a pack of smokes. He showed up after a few days. She's probably hunkered down in the woods. Luckily it's a Royal Palm, maybe easier to find then a black and brown breed. Good Luck!!

One of my royal palms 'disappeared' after I let her free-range for a month or so. Turns out she had gone broody in a bush near the driveway and I never noticed until she gave up on the nest a few weeks later. I hope your turkey is in a similar situation!
