Mission Impossible: Turkey Eggs

Pics
I use a temp gun for my snake cages, to monitor temperature, but if it's off a few degrees I'm not worried about it. I concur that they aren't very accurate. I used to use a thermohygrometer with a probe in the snake cages... and got tired of cleaning it off constantly, because invariably whichever snake I put it in with would poop all over it as soon as they could. I think they were making a statement.

In a still air incubator, measure the temperature at a level that is even with the top of the eggs, not the actual eggs and not behind or below the eggs.
Just did that. The thermometer is lying level with the top of the eggs in line with them. I think it should be good.

College algebra... So glad to be done with math classes!
Kiki, with all that walmart shopping, you think you would have noticed how poor quality things can be sold. So if the thermometer is not held to a standard it will be off a bit. The box or manual should even say how much it's allowed to be off. (Of course not always)
And Cyprus, the second half of your meter can be calibrated with a good thermometer. You just need to find one that's highly accurate to compare it to.

I've just been standing back and watching...does that sound creepy? Anyway, now I have a question...Why did New Egg #2 look like it had a window into it on the second candling?
That is because when she cleaned the eggs off, she washed all the protective coating and dyes off of that egg in that particular area. That egg is likely to be very susceptible to getting a bacterial infection since it has such a large unprotected area.

Actually, I didn't do that to the egg. I found it like that. That section of the egg was lying in the mud.

:fl Do we notice anything starting in the eggs this morning?
I'm at work, so I haven't checked yet.

I have found and collected egg #4, though. It was laid this morning by the same hen.

It will be the last egg I collect from these Turkeys because a) My incubator can really old hold a maximum if 6 eggs b) I don't work for the next five days after this afternoon and c) any eggs I collect from here on out would stagger the hatch too much
