Mite Infestation Again..Help!

Several hens had it that bad and just about all had some except the hens that really do not get mated. So that made me think are the roosters getting it somewhere and spreading to the hens. The roosters sleep in separate large plastic dog kennels with shavings at night. I thought since the kennels are plastic they would not be in there.
Have you treated the roosters and their housing too?
If you haven't, it would be a good idea:)

Anyone have any ideas of where these are coming from? Or what else I can do?
Hi there! :frow

Us California coastal peeps have special conditions... wonderful weather. :plbb ;)

Sounds to me like you are dealing with northern fowl mite...

Which are the type that stay living ON the bird. Red mites are the ones that take up residence in wood cracks including rose bushes and such NOT just man made structures. Yes 100% a mating rooster WILL spread ALL things among your flock. :bun

Glad you have done your research about DE. It does NOT work in humid conditions aside from other concerns. ;)

I would not treat with ivermectin and the other stuff at the same time. You need to identify what does work and what doesn't. The follow up treatment is KEY to the pest not building resistance to said drug.

Permethrin spray is VERY effective for me...

and just a few spritz.
