Mite infestation in Quail coop-- Suggestions?

Hi

We have coturnix quail and Texas A & M quail that live in 3 coops that my husaband built with plywood, 2 x 2's and wire. They have sand on the bottom. We have added DE to try to help with these mites with ZERO help. I need to kill these things since they are killing my quail and fast.

Anyone found anything that actually works? I do intend to eat these quail and/or their eggs so I want to make sure that anything fits with that goal.

I haven't found mites in my chicken coop but I hope any solution for quail will also work in case they get into the chicken coop.

You can try sprinkling baking soda everywhere. Another solution could be a vinegar / dish soap / water solution and spray the heck out of everything. You need to essentially remove all shavings / straw etc. and do a deep scrub and hopefully that will kill and / or eliminate those pesky mites! They could not only kill the embryo in your eggs...but potentially the chicks and the adults (in extreme cases). Don't want to scare you but I'd much rather someone tell me in that situation than lose potentially everything!

Thank you for the suggestions. These mites have already started to kill my adult quail so I'm ready for drastic action
