Hello everyone,

Fluralaner is the active ingredient used on Exzolt who is a liquid solution used for control the infestation of red mites on poultry. Exzolt is diluted to drinking water and give to poultry. The dosage required of Fluralaner is 0.5 mg/Kg BW. Exzolt is sold at a dosage of 10 mg/mL.

I want to know from the more expert if it’s possible to use only the active ingredient Fluralaner diluted on drinking water.

This is because I can’t buy the Exzolt solution in my country but I can order the powder of Fluralaner who is also cheaper than the diluted solution.

I don't have any experience using Exzolt, nor have I I've heard of it till now, but I did find some information pertaining to the use of Fluralaner in Poultry. If the only ingredient in Exzolt is Fluralaner I would see no reason why you couldn't use it. It might be good to talk to the manufacturer and ask, as I'm sure they have some knowledge concerning to that subject.

"This study was designed to investigate the safety for reproductive performances of fluralaner in male and female chickens at 3 times the recommended dose (1.5 instead of 0.5 mg/kg body weight) and 2 times the recommended duration (4 administrations instead of 2 administrations, with a 7 day interval between administrations). "

"Oral administration of fluralaner was well tolerated by breeder chickens with a safety margin of approximately 3-fold obtained. Fluralaner had no effect on the egg number, weight and fertility, and no effect on egg hatchability or chick viability. Based on these results, a safe use of the new mite treatment proposed with fluralaner administered via drinking water is expected in layer and breeder field industrial conditions."

Hi there! Were you able to find any more information on the Fluralaner? I'm in the US and trying to locate some I could use on my backyard chickens that isn't ridiculously expensive like the diluted solution. Where did you find the powder? Thank you!

Hi,
I decided to buy the Exzolt, I was able to get it after asking to a veterinarian.
The raw powder is cheaper comparing the amount of fluralaner content in the liquid (Exzolt).
By buying the raw powder it would be difficult to make the right dosage and the cost is not indifferent. It would last a long depending on how many poultry do you have. For 10 grams the cost is 760$. In 50 mL of Exzolt there is 0.5 grams of fluralaner.
I payed 150$ for a 50 mL solution of Exzolt, it was just enough for me. Today I have done the second treatment.
After the first treatment i already saw the dead mites.

Thanks so much for replying! May I ask what country you are in? I'll ask my vet friend if she is possibly able to order it, but my guess is no. Where were you going to get the powder from? I used to be a vet tech and majored in biochem so I wouldn't have too tough of a time getting a gram scale with material boats to weigh out the powder to make a oral solution. Thanks again! :)

I’m in Switzerland. I found the powder from a supplier on Alibaba. But from April 2021 it’s no longer possible to offer pharmaceutical and chemical raw materials. But the single company are still offering their products. You can google fluralaner raw powder and you will find some offers from China.
