Ok so I have two hens that have been injured by my rooster mounting them so Ive been moving them into a seperate pen during the day to keep them safe. Today I noticed that they have lice or mites. Ive dusted the two girls with diotomacious earth but then got thinking, if these two have them today but didnt three days ago ( I know they didnt because I check them every moring and night to see how the wounds are healing and check for other any other issues) where did they come from? Must have picked them up somwhere but what about the rest of the flock?
Then I started to think about the brooding hen and Duck I have in the same coop. I was going to air bomb the coop and louce all my girls but that would most definetly harm the eggs no?
The infestation has just started and seeing as how Ive only been keeping chickens for 12 months to the week and never dealt with it Im a little weary. Cleaning the coop with soap and water right now is not possible and even if I did I can get behind the wall pannels. Any thoughts on what I can try?

DE will not stop an infestation. Honestly, I doubt it will do much. Also, please be very caareful with it around chickens (and yourself) as it is highly irritating to the respiratory tract. You will have to use something that will kill them.

Thanks for the help? Whats your babis on this will not work? seen lots saying it will help, and in theory should break down the exosceliton making it impossible to live?
Anybody with something to help me out?

Great arctial, well writen. I guess now I have to check if the insecticed powder will harm the un hatched eggs. Untill everything hatches Im just going to have to try and control it. on the up side I cant find any eggs on my girls so that tells me thier just starting. Egg production is still good and everyone looks healthy.
