I posted earlier about my chickens. One of them seemed to be thinning in the breast. Will Diatomaceous earth kill mites? I looked under her wings today and she was covered in mites. I took some de and dusted her in that. The other 2 chickens I have show no signs of mites. I dusted them as well as a preventative. What else will get rid of the mites if the de doesn't work.

DE will not treat, control, kill or prevent a mite infestation.
Here are some product that WILL HELP however.

You have to treat all tour birds. Clean out the coop, spray the coop in all the books and crannies and wipe down the roost and in the nest boxes. Repeat a week later. Then one more time.
Three treatments for best chance of really getting rid of them.

The horse
fly spray is very easy.

The permethrin spray must be diluted in water.

The powder is also easy to apply on the birds if you put some in a kneehigh panty hose (use like a powder puff) but not as easy to use inside the coop.
