Mites

Yeyy!! Finally, my permethrin has arrived. I power washed and sprayed inside and out of the chicken coop. I also sprayed the ceiling. Tonight I will spray the girls. I'm worried it will be cold tonight. Should I spray the coop after 5 or 10 days?

So second time power washing?
......and didn't you spray everything with Malthion, were you still seeing mites after that?

I would not power wash inside the coop again. Spraying in between all cracks and crevices with the oermethrin and on the birds should suffice. I believe you repeat every 7 days but could be wrong on that. Continue to check them.

Yes I. sprayed Malathion 8days ago. I've been checking the roost and mites are gone. I used a paper towel to wipe the roost and no blood smear so far. Last time I checked was the other night. No sign of mites but I sprayed the entire coop today anyways just to be sure I kill them all.

Ok I will not power wash the coop again. But should I spray the coop and chicken with permethrin after 7days?

If you see no evidence of mite activity treating again right now won't do anything. As far as I know nothing works on eggs, you need to wait for them to hatch, which is why with permethrin you treat and then re-treat after a few days, to get the newly hatched mites.

I would plan on re-treating in about 5-7 days, and of course, continue to regularly check for any signs of more mites.
