You're welcome.Yay! Thanks!
Are we still going with Bootsie as the father, or perhaps the Red cochin?I got some more photos of my sweet little girl, (hopefully), her feathers are more developed, and you were right, she is losing the mottling!
I also came up with a name, Yuzu! Meaning citrus fruit! View attachment 2732350View attachment 2732349
Now that you mentioned RIR, it makes more sense with her redness.@MysteryChicken, I am starting to wonder who Yuzu's parents really are?
Could Bootsie still be her father? She seems to be becoming redder, but she has the black marks that Bootsie has, and in normal outside lighting, she has almost the lightish rusty-colored feathers on her thighs.
Would it suggest anything is that we have an old RIR hen in our flock? I checked her vent and it was moist, so I assume she is still laying?View attachment 2794327

And I am also beginning to question her gender....
(sorry for the lighting)
And if there is any more info you need, feel free to ask!
So it could have been likely that Bootsie had an affair with the RIR?Now that you mentioned RIR, it makes more sense with her redness.
Looks like a pullet, so what are you seeing that makes you question?
Yep, it could have happened. So it could have been likely that Bootsie had an affair with the RIR?
The face. Especially the redness in her wattle and comb, and she is getting dark red shiny feathers on her neck.
Phew!Redness can happen with excitement. I wouldn't worry.
Dark red shiny neck feathers are normal with the mahogany color.
