This is Weezer. He is a young rooster that has only been crowing for about 3 weeks now. But, here is my question: Is he a full-blooded Sebright or mixed? Just wondering. I love him and I think he is handsome either way. On a side note, he crows every single time I go out to the coop. Is it recognition, or a warning? I find it hilarious, though.

Purebred golden laced sebright, rose combs have lower fertility rate, so some hatcheries have single combed sebrights. Maybe some breeds were mixed in, but I believe they have been bred to look and basically be a sebright. Hatchery-quality that is.

Thank-you

X2
Hatchery quality sebright.

Is this good or bad?
It’s normal. If you get a chicken from a hatchery, feedstore, or from someone who bred them from hatchery parents, that chicken is most likely hatchery quality. It only means that you shouldn’t sell him or his offspring as show quality.

I just don't want genetic or health issues to be a problem later.

Not my picture, this is a purebred show quality bird. See the lacing? See the lacing on your bird? That and the comb/maybe some other small faults are what makes a bird hatchery quality.
