I can't see 7Up to well, but Dr Pepper and Twist are beautiful! Is this the most curent pic of Twist? I would love to see her again as an adult

I have a polish X wyandotte roo chick I plan to use to keep the blood from getting to stagnant. That will add crested to the mix as well. Really I am just working on some good ol barnyard mixes lol. For me the most fun is seeing what pops out. Of course I have a big problem with redtail hawks altering my breeding plans. I am trying to switch to bantam in hopes they wont be as appettizing to the hawks. The hawks are why I am just working wiht mixes. You go to all the trouble to try to breed pures and the hawks eat the roos. But add a mutt roo and they never see him lol.

try getting some game cockerels/roosters they tend to be very alert and flighty they might help alert to hawks and help save some of your flock. oeg come in both LF and bantams

Here is an experimental crossing. I wanted something that I could use the boys for meat, and the girls for eggs/natural incubator. Mother:

Buff x Partridge Cochin Father:

Barred rock

Their offspring (girl in front, boy in back).

They are 13 weeks old on Saturday I think they are really close to what I was looking for. Nice dual purpose mutts.

Mtnviewfarms, I would love to see your new chicken house and run. It sounds beautiful. You should post pics. I know what you mean by this thread making you feel better about having, (or wanting) mixed breeds. Some threads on here it's a dirty word. The American Serama thread can be so harsh that even when you do have Seramas you won't admit it unless you have the best of the best, (which I do not). So trust me, I'm loving this thread too.

Hello - Haven't been on the site for a while and just saw your post. I will 'try' to post pix of my chicken house and run as soon as my DH is able to
put the 'finishing touches' on it. Since he's having to have 3 different hand surgeries and will be unable to use his hands to work ( he's a woodworker and
cabinet maker by profession - semi-retired as we homestead and there just isn't enough time for EVERYTHING! ).

The chicken house and covered and totally secure run are functional and the chickens are totally enjoying all of it and now I can set up my folding chair
in there and watch chicken TV to my hearts content as various ones come up to check me out and sit around me as if I'm some kind of Guru and a few
even jump up on my legs and sit there comfortably until I have to get up! I don't know who is enjoying this whole thing more - me or the chickens?

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the chickens you posted the pix of that you got at a farm you visited. They are soooooooooo unique and adorable in a kinky
tongue in cheek kind of way which is what I love in all of my two and four legged friends. They are indeed a great advertisement and enticement for
mixed breeding to be sure. Cudos on acquiring them.

Tomorrow I'm setting eggs that I've collected from my D'Uccle hens. They will be Mille Fleur x Bantam White Langshan, and Golden Necked X Bantam White Langshan. I was told the Langshans white was recessive, which means zip to me. Any guesses on coloring (in English please)?LOL!!
