Hello, new guy here but not new to using forums for everything as they're goldmines of information for a lot of things.
I have 11 mixed female chickens for laying (we started with a dozen and lost one early on), 5 Cuckoo Marans, 5 Barnevelders, and 1 lone Lakenvelder named Gladys. The feed store only had a limited selection with all the panic buying going on. I also have an even dozen ducks, 6 Blue Sweeds and 6 Rouens.
So far the ducks are my favorite with their rambunctious, party all night attitudes and their love of all things water related. The chickens are very calm in comparaison and quite nice when they can get their sleep, especially now that I split the ducks from the chicks into seperate tubs since they're growing so fast and I wanted to avoid overcrowding. I'm planning on an addition, 'The Cluckatraz', to a shed that will house the 2 flocks together with a large, fenced and caged yard with water feature so they can partially "free" range in our predator rich forest. I love watching them grow!
