MIXING GROWER/FINISHER & LAYER FEED???

I
That's strange. Store bought eggs are way thinner/softer than the eggs my flock produces.
That has been my experience as well - with the exception of one of my BOs who has always had shells that are thinner, like those I am used to seeing on commercially produced eggs.

ETA - I feed straight grower at all times, to all birds and offer oyster shell (with egg shells mixed in as I accumulate them) for the taking by laying birds.

It could be. Our flock free ranges, too...we are in arid Eastern WA, so maybe there are fewer calcium-rich insects. Or perhaps ours don't eat quite as much oyster shell as yours do. The shells are hard enough...rarely do we get thin shells and we've only had shell-less eggs perhaps 2-3 times in over two years with 25+ layers.

I'm sure this question is on here somewhere, I just can't find it..Anyhow, I have 11 chickens that range from 16wks, to 10 wks, we have the all on grower/finisher feed now, however our oldes BR's waddles & comb are really red & she is looking so "Plump" latley, I'm wondering if it would be harmful to MIX layer feed in with our grower/finisher feed? That way they'd all get what they need? Suggestions? Also, how should I give Oster shells (crushed) to the older ones for extra calcium & not to the younger ones??

Just keep feeding grower (aka "all flock") and put out some oyster shell on the side.
