We are bringing our Lav Orp in to treat her for CRD. We've been trying to keep her with the flock and treat but the eye is so swollen and we just need to observe her for a couple days. Weather is crap too so it makes it hard, they don't want to leave coop and getting her out is a pain in the dark. Can I continue to give her Tylan and also Denagard in her waterer?

You're aware that CRD (Chronic Respiratory Disease) is Mycoplasma Gallisepticum (MG) right? MG is a chronic life time disease and all birds remain carriers for life. It also can spread vertically into the egg of developing embryos, making any chicks that happen to hatch, already sick with this bacteria. I also don't suggest giving antibiotics without proper testing.

Yes, I have posted extensively about this chicken, we have a closed flock (of 3); they are pets. We are letting them live out their natural life. We have successfully managed CRD for 3 years now, but a combination of dry pox this fall and rough weather have stressed her and we are having a hard time keeping it under control.

I think that tylan (tylosin) can be given with doxycycline, but I would not mix tylan with Denagard. Denagard is said to be very good against mycoplasma, since it has not developed resistance. I would either use the Tylan or the Denagard. You may have to alternate different antibiotics if your birds develop resistance to one. Oxytetracycline, doxycycline, tylosin, denagard, and enrofloxacin are AB’s that can treat mycoplasma.

OK, thanks very much! Tylan isn't working, so we will give the Denagard a try for a few days. May order a doxycycline also.

@Eggcessive I read about rinsing eye with diluted solution of Tylan (in an old, 2008 post). THoughts on that?
She will NOT eat anything with denagard, even heavily sweetened.
