MJ's little flock

A split second later and she had hopped down

I think you'd have noticed. You can always spray the hens at night if you're worried.
I’ve never had a worry until Bok being bald for so long, but with her moult, and having a check for mites prior to that, I see that it’s coming back, so I guess I’m lucky (touch wood)
I’ll keep an eye on it all of course but if there’s no need to treat I’ll refrain. It’s like worms, I don’t do it every 6 months or so but if I think they are a bit off I’ll pop some worming liquid in the water to be safe.
Again, I’m learning as I go and being a part of yours and bob’s threads is teaching me so much to look for. At the same time I think I’ve been very lucky for an apprentice chickeneer to avoid these things.
Predators is another front I’m lucky with I believe, my run is lax compared to you guys, though I do shut their coop now after joining you guys as a precaution.
Sorry, a novel happened there!!

edit to correct: I don’t religiously do it very 3 or 6 months like others may do but...

I didn't. It wasn't very nice, all those chickens in boxes, being bid over. Lots of chicks peeping. Roosters and cockerels. Hens with chicks. One peacock, lots of ducks.

I was tempted by two silver sussex pullets. But so were a few other ladies who seemed like good people so I kept out. There was an araucana pullet too.

Also a speckled sussex with her top beak missing.

I've got some photos.

I wanted to emote both sad and angry for this.
Why the 🤬 would someone do this to her? The speckled Sussex I’m talking about.
As I said in @BY Bob’s thread a bit ago, I didn’t even know beak trimming was a thing 😔
I mean, how can she eat, preen etc :hit

Marlow stresses so badly he burrows his head into my arm & piddles everywhere. I try to avoid the vet. Neither of us can cope & our vet is lovely. :(
My cat, Karma, used to burrow the head under my arm.
Our Dog, Scrambles does it too (and sheds a lot of his thick coat all over my usually black top)
I guess it’s their safety thing, run to Mummy, she will save me 💜
