I love the scent of frangipanis but I've never had any luck with them. Then again I'm not in the right climate zone for them.

Really? I would have thought your climate would be similar to mine, but I guess you're more inland (and probably at a higher altitude).

Sounds like you may need to get a treadle feeder MJ.

I've got a treadle feeder. Charlie's too big to use it; the three Faverolle girls were using it and now they've stopped! I bought a seed-block for the wild birds in the hope they'd stay out of the run!

It gets too cold up here for them in winter. I don't think they tolerate frost well. At least that's what I tell myself. Also I think I get anxious and overwater them...

We don't get frost down on the coast and yes, you don't need to water them too much. They're kinda set-and-forget trees.

I’m trying to grow some more Frangipanis. The one I was trying to save last year didn’t make it ($100 for two trees and they both died!) I forgot to dry it out first, maybe that’s why it didn’t make it. I bought two tri-colour ones locally; one’s going nuts and the other has barely grown. It also appeared to have some rotting issues so it pulled it out, cut the rotten bit off and left it to dry. The one that’s gone nuts needed a trim, so I cut two branches off and let them dry. One branch I’ve planted where the other failed to thrive (it’s bigger so should get more sun sooner) the sick one has ended up in a pot and the other branch has been planted near where the Liquid Amber was. Let’s see how that works!
