MJ's little flock

This is very interesting and behavior I witnessed with both of mine. Eat once off the nest and eat again before getting back on. Both Sydney and Phyllis also fluffed and clucked in the days before setting. In fact you pointed out that Sydney was about to set based upon a photo I had posted.
And prior to Mary sitting this time, she ate and ate and ate.
 
You've got me thinking about weighing the hens again. I still don't have a suitable scale.
It really is a good idea to weight them once in a while anyway. It's very hard to tell by look or by feel whether they are gaining or losing weight.

I can see it's something I should be doing once a month as routine and perhaps more often when a hen is not well.
 
Ivy dropped a very well-digested poop and it gave me a rush of joy :gig
I thought of you today as I was worrying about diarrhea - Maggie dropped a 'perfect poop' and I thought of you (don't take that the wrong way!).
