MJ's little flock

I haven't noticed much. Both Pepper and Edwina were out and about without any prompting for the last few days but Edwina insists on sleeping in the nest box.
I blocked off the nest boxes yesterday so they were all forced to roost at bed time.

This morning the coop looked like this..

Looks like I won't be getting any eggs for a while. 😕
That looks like a big drop for one night to me.

I know the feeling.

The other day I was hurrying around the yard, looking under bushes and tables, checking the run and nest boxes....





.... they were on the back of the pergola seat hidden by the wisteria and watching me quizzically. You think they would have answered when I called to them but nooooo..

Molting and egg laying are not really connected. Phyllis laid during her molting phase in September. You could still get eggs. Especially since the days are long there.
