MJ's little flock

A calendar would be very helpful for viewing the breaks at a glance whereas I need to read my notes to gain a picture of that.

However, my sums at the end of the year are probably easier than yours as I don't have to turn many pages.
Yes exactly. I could make it easier for myself by doing a monthly total maybe.

That would work!

I'm thinking of putting my paper kitchen calendar to greater use for marking the breaks like you do while still keeping a tally for each hen on the fridge.
I keep mine in the Chicken Palace. I feel like by the time I get to the kitchen I will probably forget to make a mark!
When it is not too cold I leave the eggs in boxes in the coop. That way if I want to give them to someone they are right there to collect.

See, with our climate the eggs really do need to go into the fridge asap in summer. And it's easier to remember to do that if it's part of the daily routine, so I do it through the cooler months as well.

It could, if it was located in the digestive tract.

The call to treat the infection was not an easy one. The only indication of an infection is a non-specific change in protein distribution that indicates a very high level of antibodies in the blood which can occur with infections. We don't know where it is or if it is even bacterial. Unfortunately, with the condition she is in I don't feel I can afford to wait and see. I need to give her all the help I can.

I think I have decided to put the tribe back onto layer feed including Sansa. It is likely the best way to get higher calcium into her. I may still choose to supplement as well to give her a big boost. I'm going to do this for a month while I keep good watch on her weight. Then we will recheck her labs and see how we have done. I can then adjust as needed.

I'm headed to go get some layer now. I'll do some calculations then to see how much she would be getting. What I can't understand is why I don't see her eating any of the oyster shell. If she was calcium deficient and there was calcium available, why not ingest some?

Good evening folks :frow
