MJ's little flock

They were raised as pets, but not with children. It might explain their behaviour. Maybe they've been kept in safe environments until now?

Here are three wonderful hens dust bathing together.

While this old darling has a special treat of chopped up leftovers (steak and greens).

So very pretty! She is positively glowing.
❤️

I think she is very striking looking too. Funny, I have Lorelei on my list of possible chicken names, but the name Lorna made me think of the novel Lorna Doone.
Lorna is named after Dad's cousin. Lorna and Bob lived in Whyalla which is a couple of hours drive from Adelaide. They had two boys, one died as an infant. The other was killed when a car crashed into his bike when he was 13. Very sad. Lorna and Bob sent cards for birthdays and Christmases, and one year we stayed at their house for two weeks and drank lemonade every day! They were lovely people. After Bob passed, Lorna moved down to the city and I saw her again when she was volunteering to drive cancer patients to and from their appointments: she was mum's driver.

Little Lorna chicken brings all those warm memories to the surface 🤗

What a truly horrendous thing to happen to them, both their children dying like that! :hit Lorna must have astronomical amounts of resilience.
