I'm wfh today, so the hens are out of the run and roaming around. I think Katie is feeling broody, but not really. The chicks are in their kindergarten corner. They've spent an hour playing and then they went up the ramp for a meal and a nap. No doubt they'll settle in to that routine. I've blocked off the underneath of the ramp so no one can get lost under there - when there's time, I'll make the ramp into a wedge for future ease of use on my part - it'll mean less faffing around with puppy play pen panels. The width of the ramp is an obvious benefit as the chicks noodle along towards the coop.

The chicks have learned three things so far today.

1. What dust bathing is.
2. What hot weather is.
3. How refreshing cool water can be.

All in good time!

For now the staring is from cat to chicks, but she hasn't had an opportunity to do harm. I'm almost certain she wouldn't do any harm anyway, but I'm being cautious.
